Recovery Special Zones Selected 2012-05-25

Iwate Prefecture on May 24th for the purposes of easing the rules related to the recovery of the Great Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami Iwate Prefecture on May 24th recognized three locations as an Industrial Revitalization Special Zone and one location for a Health, Medical and Welfare Special Zone based on the Recovery Special Zone Law. The Heath, Medical and Welfare Special Zone selected the Visitor’s Rehabilitation Station operated by Lotz in Rikuzentakada City. Originally these facilities were used for only normal medical treatment, but now they can be used for purpose other than medical facilities as long as a medical physician associated with the facility. The locations selected to be an Industrial Revitalization Special Zone are the a Granpa Farm Plant Factory in Rikuzentakada City, Ofunato Dairy Industry in Ofunato City and Maruhi Lumber and Wood Company. If these special zone companies decide to build new factories or hire new employees they will receive special depreciation treatment, special tax exemptions and employment subsidies.
